My DIY Ramadan Decor

Ramadan Decor

I can’t believe we are less than a week away from Ramadan! This year I really wanted to decorate a corner of my house that celebrates this blessed month. With a little kid in the home, I think it’s very important to visually mark such religious occasions.

As always, I kept my décor very simple. I also unintentionally ended up keeping in line with my Black & White & Pink living room colour scheme. I guess I just gravitate towards those colours. I’m so happy with how it turned out, because it’s all nice and coordinated with my living room now. It’s also drawing from the beautiful spring weather that we have right now.

The best part about it though was how easy and simple it was!

DIY Ramadan Mubarak Banner, Moons and Stars

  • I used Digital Files provided by Sidra Art Boutique and had them printed on card stock paper at Staples. You can use regular paper as well, however, card stock definitely holds its shape better.
  • Then I sat down with a pair of scissors and cut out all the cute little moons and stars, as well as the gorgeous floral Ramadan Mubarak banner every so carefully. It was so therapeutic. I even got my little brother and husband involved and it was fun to see how much they got into it.
  • Then I used a hole punch to make holes in the cut pieces and used my wire from Micheals to make hanging banners that I stuck to the wall with tape.

Handmade Ramadan Stockings

I used the cutest felt handmade stocking from The Inspired Home Co shop on Etsy and hung them on my staircase along with some starry stringlights from IKEA. I absolutely adore them and can’t wait to add some fun little treats in them for my daughter during Ramadan and later for Eid. This is definitely my daughter’s favourite little corner at the moment.

Store-Bought Items

Keeping in line with the Moon & Star theme, I couldn’t resist when I saw the gold moon planters and the metal moon phase wall hanging at Urban Outfitters. They were the perfect gold that tied in the gold strips on my fireplace and gave the whole look at more chic feel.

Previous Décor Items

Other items have just been fetched from my around my house – the cushions, candle stands and floral arrangements.

Did you decorate for Ramadan this year? Hope this gives you some ideas 🙂 Until next time, Ciao Ciao!

Simple, Modern Birthday Party Decor

The last time we decorated and did a little get together for my daughter’s birthday was on her 1st birthday. Now that she was turning 5 (still asking myself where all these years went!), I decided to do something special to make it memorable. And I’m so glad I did!

I love party planning but I’m guilty of also being very last minute! It’s just so hard to make time for it with work and everything else you have to do in the evenings and on the weekends. I started planning for this little birthday on the Wednesday of my one-week March Break, and hosted the little birthday family get-together on Saturday (3 days later). (more…)

Free Arabic Calligraphy Printable!

It’s no secret that I love Scandinavian design with clean lines, and bold & contrasting colours. This was exactly what I had in mind when I designed the shelf over my couch. I really enjoyed the process of deciding on frame sizes and their placement, but the real fun started when I had to pick the artwork inside the frames. (more…)

My Holiday Dinner Tablescape

As you all know, I was talking about my holiday dinner and tablescape on Instagram since the beginning of November. I really wanted to do something a little special with my dining area and invite my family over during the Christmas holidays for a memorable get-together. I love decorating little spaces and creating vignettes so I take any excuse to do that!

But when December finally rolled around, so did this crazy cold weather we’ve had in Toronto along with all sorts of viruses. My daughter, my husband and I were all down with colds and fevers on and off for what seemed like three weeks. I ended up calling my guests and telling them that I had to postpone the dinner which was originally planned for Christmas day. I’m sure they were glad to hear it because who wants to come over and eat at a house full of sick people anyway, haha!

My party ended up being more like a New Year’s Eve get-together, which was perfect. We had such a great time, and can I just say – my dining table really stole the spotlight 😛 (more…)

Family Room Series – The Walls

Hi guys!!!

I’m finally starting to work on my basement family room that I’ve been talking about for so long on Instagram! Here’s a couple of before/after shots. What a difference! I mean… does it even look like the same space?! (more…)

Simple & Modern Autumn Decor

Hey guys!

The weather here in Toronto has been unusually warm for the end of September… with heat warnings and all! If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I even headed to the beach last weekend. But we Canadians know better than to complain about that because it’s going to be -20 degrees before we can say ‘winter’! Point in case – even though the weather has been warm, it hasn’t kept me from getting excited about the beauty of fall. (more…)
